Perennials

Perennials are plants that come up in the spring, go through their cycle of growing, blooming and dying down during the cold of winter, only to re-appear the following spring. Perennials are herbaceous plants (meaning they have no woody stems such as shrubs and trees) and some can be very long-lived. They provide beauty to the garden year after year, requiring little care compared to the beauty they produce.

Growing perennials may take a little patience, but the beauty they add to you garden is well worth the wait. Remember…Perennials sleep the first year, creep the second year and leap the third year. Just fill in with some annuals until it’s time for your perennials to “leap”.

There is such a wide variety of perennials and such a wide variety of conditions that they will grow in, meaning there are perennials for any garden, no matter the type of soil, climate or amount of moisture.
