Orchids are the premium potted plant. They are beautiful and exotic and the blooms are long-lasting. They are usually thought of as being difficult to grow, and only gardeners with a lot of expertise would even try. Actually, there are some species of orchids that are easy to care for and do really well as house plants. Once thought to be out of most people’s budget, they are now more plentiful and more affordable. When buying orchids, it’s best to get one that is mature and already in bloom.
Orchids like plenty of bright, filtered light, at least 10 -12 hours a day. They need moist soil, always using water that is at room temperature. Each species is different, so be sure to know the requirements of the orchid you buy. Over watering can seriously damage the plant. They thrive on humid air and if it is too dry, they can be placed on a humidifying tray (a tray of water and
rocks, with the potted plant setting on the rocks and not in the water, will do). With good air circulation, they should thrive.
Here is a gallery of Orchids, I don’t know the species or names of these orchids, just that they are beautiful.
